At WHOLEhealth MHK - our team will start your IV and ensure you have an enjoyable experience while getting you on the track to feeling your best. Our team has over 20+ years of experience combined so you can be confident that they are competent at what they do! Although our team is highly trained, some people’s veins are harder to access than others. For this reason, a maximum of 2 attempts per staff person to start the IV will be made.
While everyone’s body is different, an infusion takes 40-60 minutes on average. You can eat, drink, read, be on your phone or just relax while you receive your infusion. In addition to highly trained and experienced staff, WHOLEhealth MHK - IV uses the highest quality medical supplies. Taking this into consideration, a similar procedure would be three times the cost in at other doctor’s office, and thousands if you were to go to the hospital!
IV drip therapy is the most effective way to deliver nutrients, vitamins, and medications to the body because this technique bypasses the digestive system and works directly into the circulatory and organ systems - this ensures 100% absorption for maximum effect, minimal waste, and faster results.
Please reach us at office@wholehealthmhk.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
The most popular reasons for IV treatment is to relieve stress, rid your body of toxins, balance hormones, boost immunity, and make your skin healthier. There are positive anecdotal claims of relief and rejuvenation, but there’s no hard evidence to support these claims. Vitamins used in the IVs are water soluble, so once your body uses what’s needed, it will excrete the excess through your kidneys into your urine.
The first IV vitamin drips were developed and administered by Dr. John Myers in the 1970s. His research led to the popular Myers’ Cocktail. These types of infusions generally take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour, and take place within a medical office with a licensed medical professional observing the infusion. While you’re undergoing an IV vitamin drip, your body is receiving a higher concentration of the vitamins themselves. A vitamin that’s taken by mouth gets broken down in the stomach and digestive tract, and is limited on how much can be absorbed (50 percent). If, however, the vitamin is given through an IV, it’s absorbed at a much higher percentage (90 percent).
Our treatments are elective, so it’s not a requirement to have a doctor’s note prior to any services. WHOLEhealth MHK-IV is a non-medical, elective service that requires signing a waiver of liability prior to receiving infusion. That being said, if you have health related questions or concerns it is your responsibility to consult with your primary care provider. Although we have trained medical staff, they are unable to answer or consult with you on any medical questions or concerns. If you wish to learn about membership in the Functional Medicine practice, click here.
Anyone in good health who is 18 or older! We want everyone to experience the benefits that come with IV infusion. When you receive services you are representing you are in good health and without any medical condition that would exclude you from this type of service.
*if under 18, it must be under the supervision of the WHMHK medical staff.
Signing the waiver is saying this is an elective procedure and is not deemed as treatment. The waiver will state that you, as the receiver, do not expect any particular result from the IVs.
All of these risks are taken into consideration when receiving IV nutrition. We at WHOLEhealth MHK do everything we can to avoid any of these risks, but like most things, we have to alert you to possible risks. (After the medical waiver is filled out, we reserve the right to refuse treatment to individuals that fall in the high risk category.)
Generally speaking, oral supplements are recommended as a safe daily substitute for nutritional deficiencies or as a therapy for certain health conditions. While oral supplements are certainly beneficial, they are not always enough. Many people have underlying health issues that prevent orally taken supplements from properly absorbing into the bloodstream. Factors like, alcohol use, smoking, conditions like diabetes or Crohn’s disease and even stress can have negative effects on your body’s ability to absorb the nutrients it needs. These are all instances where a person would receive superior benefits from the bioavailability of IV nutrient therapy.
IV nutrient therapy bypasses the liver’s first-pass metabolism, and as a result, the utilization of IV nutrients is more efficient than oral supplementation. Additionally, the effects of nutritional IVs are immediately noticeable and longer lasting (days or weeks).
IV nutritional therapy is very effective and generally safe when administered by a trained practitioner.
The vast majority of patients can tolerate most IV nutritional therapies. However, there are certain medical conditions were IV nutritional therapy is contraindicated. An individual may have an allergy to a nutrient and therefore should not receive infusions containing that nutrient. In addition, kidney or heart disease or high blood pressure may prevent the use of some of the nutrients. Lastly, those diagnosed with G6PD deficiency can’t receive IV Vitamin C in high doses.
These are not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any medical conditions. There is some thought the vitamins included support the above functions in the body.
