Frequently Asked Questions
What Our Patients Ask
Why WHOLEhealth MHK?
After years in mainstream medicine, Dr. Regan Tilley has opened the clinic she knew she was destined for. A medical home, where clients could come and feel welcome and free to be themselves. This is not a sterile, frightening experience. The focus is on you as a WHOLE person, not a diagnosis, not a number. Most traditional family practice docs routinely see over 2000 patients! We have fewer patients so we can provide top-of-the-line care to each and every patient. Our patient panel size is desirably between 300-400.
What does Direct Primary Care mean?
Using a direct primary care approach allows your doctor to treat you without the hindrances of insurance. It is closer to way things used to be. Dr. Regan does not have to cater to the computer, the accountants or administration wanting to meet quotas. No “hand on the door” care here. Instead, she passes on savings for members for labs, prescriptions, specialists, and imaging. She would rather herd cats than go back to insurance based practice.
How does this save me money?!
You won’t have to pay a co-pay for office visits or routine physicals. Also you’ll be able to avoid many visits overall by sending your questions directly (no gate keepers) –– something you won’t get from a traditional practice. We are able to do a lot of labs, specialty testing, supplements and in-house prescriptions at a lower price. If we had contracts with insurance companies, we would be legally obligated to charge their higher prices.
More importantly, since you are getting all this amazing care from us, you can cut back significantly on your insurance premiums. Most DPC patients find a high-deductible, low-premium insurance plan so they’re covered in the case of a major health issue. But for all the rest, we’ve got you covered!
Check out Zion health and KNEW health share options as well. They give discounts to members of DPC practices.

Do you take insurance?
We do not bill insurance here at WHOLEhealth MHK. There is no force on earth that will persuade Dr. Regan Tilley to work with insurance again. She would rather be a sheep farmer. You can use most FSA accounts and any HSA account to pay for the membership fees.
Do I need insurance?
We recommend having the appropriate policy for your family and health needs. If you do not have insurance you are welcome here. If you have insurance, you are welcome here. This insurance will be used for those needs that are not provided at WHOLEhealth MHK, such as surgery, specialists, labs and imaging, among other things you are already using insurance for. We just do not bill it.
How do I get ahold of the doctor?
Once you are enrolled you will receive a private phone number to contact Dr. Regan as well as an invitation to our Practice Better app. Here you will be able to message the provider DIRECTLY, have DIRECT access after hours via phone. After hours please call for urgent questions, but when in doubt call 911 or go to the Emergency room for an emergency. Urgent calls might mean a fever, a sick baby you have questions about, or an injury where you are seeking guidance for managing it. An emergency is head trauma, chest pain, stroke like symptoms, burns. Neither of those lists is all inclusive or limiting. Please always use your best judgement.
What about vaccines?
We believe every child deserves to be cared for by a physician. Our stance on vaccines is that they serve a purpose to prevent illnesses in the population. There are situations where the child cannot be vaccinated, or the parents choose a different schedule for vaccines. We are willing to lovingly care for your child no matter their vaccination status. We believe in personal medical autonomy.
Do you do well woman exams?
What is the benefit of IV hydration?
The most popular reasons for IV treatment is to relieve stress, rid your body of toxins, balance hormones, boost immunity, and make your skin healthier. There are positive anecdotal claims of relief and rejuvenation, but there’s no hard evidence to support these claims. Vitamins used in the IVs are water soluble, so once your body uses what’s needed, it will excrete the excess through your kidneys into your urine.
Are children allowed to use the sauna?
The core body temperature of children rises much faster than adults. When taking a sauna session with a child, operate at a lower temperature and for no more than 15 minutes at a time. A general rule of thumb is one minute inside your sauna per year of age for the child, but always accompanied by an adult. And remember to keep you and your children hydrated, even if you don’t see them sweating.
Are there any studies on infrared therapy?
There are various studies on the use of infrared for a multitude of health benefits. Specifically, Sunlighten infrared saunas have been shown to increase core temperature for detoxification, temporarily lower blood pressure, and increase flexibility. Many other studies have shown infrared saunas to increase skin health, aid in relaxation and mental health, and support reduction of waist circumference. These studies can be found on Sunlighten’s website via the Light Science research library.
How do I prepare for my sauna experience?
Drink 16 oz of water prior to your session and plan to drink 32 oz in the hours following.
Come prepared to relax and unwind, leave your device on “do not disturb” if you can, so you can have an immersive experience.
How often should I use the sauna?
One session will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. But similar to exercise, the more you do
it, the better the results. Recommended use is 3-4 times per week for 30-40 minutes.
Is IV nutritional support safe?
IV nutritional therapy is very effective and generally safe when administered by a trained practitioner.
The vast majority of patients can tolerate most IV nutritional therapies. However, there are certain medical conditions were IV nutritional therapy is contraindicated. An individual may have an allergy to a nutrient and therefore should not receive infusions containing that nutrient. In addition, kidney or heart disease or high blood pressure may prevent the use of some of the nutrients. Lastly, those diagnosed with G6PD deficiency can’t receive IV Vitamin C in high doses.
What add-ons are available?
Chromotherapy uses the wavelengths of color to therapeutically enhance your wellness. See the handout
ART is sound and vibration to further deepen the sensory experience.
Essential oils can be used to create aromatherapy during your sauna session.
Bring any stones or crystals you have that you may feel attuned to use as well.
What are the risks?
- Air embolism that can lead to a stroke
- Fluid overload
- Electrolyte imbalances that can lead to kidney, brain and heart damage
- Vein irritation
- Infection
All of these risks are taken into consideration when receiving IV nutrition. We at WHOLEhealth MHK do everything we can to avoid any of these risks, but like most things, we have to alert you to possible risks. (After the medical waiver is filled out, we reserve the right to refuse treatment to individuals that fall in the high risk category.)
